Camping in the open air is an activity that, despite being completely idyllic, is not made for everyone. Some need something more than a canvas roof to sleep, such as a large bed, a private bathroom, catering service, even a terrace with good views, among many other things, and for them there is glamping.
But if we add the concept of luxury and adventure to glamor and comfort, then we are talking about a total experience, which the architecture studio Ardh Architects has created in association with Shurooq, the Sharyah Investment and Development Authority, which has been called a Floating Retreat.
A high altitude glamping
Sharyah is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates and, although it is less known than Abu Dhabi and Dubai, it also has areas of great natural beauty: the red desert, the sea of the Persian Gulf or the rocky mountains of Hajar, for example. . In the latter, it is intended to create a luxury project for camping in tents suspended over the void, located between two mountains, and linked by a walkway that extends from side to side.
The tents have a simple design, made of steel and fabric. Opaque on the sides and transparent on the front, which allows you to experience the extreme sensation of floating in the air, while contemplating the impressive mountainous landscape of the Hajar.
The tents will be made with state-of-the-art, lightweight, fire-retardant, breathable and waterproof materials, as well as UV-resistant, and will accommodate only two people.
A campsite prepared so that guests have a most pleasant and worry-free stay, as if they were in a five-star hotel. The tents will have all the necessary amenities to enjoy this experience: comfortable beds, electricity and heating, Wi-Fi, private bathroom, room service and a five-star spa located on top of the mountain. The only drawback is that to access the cabins you will have to climb.
The ten tents can also be moved vertically, at the guest’s will and as long as there is no wind, to reach a height that allows privacy to be preserved by separating themselves from the rest of the guests. The reception and a restaurant will be located on the ground, and they will have the mission of preparing and attending to customer requests.
This project aims to provide a quiet space in which to disconnect from the bustle of daily life, and also aims to promote the culture, heritage and history of the region, as well as provide a space for people to connect with the nature through various activities, such as mountaineering, hiking or biking on the platform. You can also make yoga retreats or private cultural visits in the area.
