Hello good morning!
Spain is measured against Europe: one of its large companies plans to go to another EU country; Italy challenges Madrid in the migratory drama; in the water war, Brussels is ignored.
Theme of the day
Spain vs. Europe?
Ferrovial is a warning. Shareholders in favor of the change of headquarters of this large infrastructure company from Spain to the Netherlands gain last-minute support. They vote today. Moncloa warns with penalizing it. It is already a matter of state. Give a precedent.
The immigration drama. One year after the Sánchez pact with Morocco, irregular immigration drops drastically, 63%, while arrivals in Italy increase 300%. Rome questions Madrid.
The water war? In Barcelona, the drought will force the river Besòs to be its new faucet; In Andalusia, in parallel, the illegal irrigation of Doñana is endorsed with the favorable vote of the PP and Vox and ignoring Europe (or the CSIC). The situation points to critical.
In other news
China… how strange. Yemen is headed for peace for the first time in a decade of war. It was time. In the background, however, it stands out that the turn comes after a meeting in China between the Saudis and the Iranians. Beijing adds points in its global influence.
Waste takes. In the worst year of the energy crisis, the inability of the Spanish networks to accept renewable energy led to a tenfold increase in waste. The consequence has been an extra cost for the consumer. Seeing is believing.
Health, again. Congratulations yesterday for the first therapies against cognitive impairment caused by chemo after cancer. Today for a cell therapy that opens the way to living with diabetes without injecting insulin. And keep the good news coming!
What Champions! The first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals brought, first, Bayern’s thump against Manchester City (3-0). Madrid responded last night by being far superior to Chelsea (2-0). The Champions is encouraged.

Celebrities also fail. The spotlights illuminate everything but fame is not sure of success and if not tell more than one, one, two, three and more names that launched businesses with their signature-brand that ended in failure. From everything you learn, it is repeated.
Rice cakes, no rice? One of Bilbao’s local delicacies (and whoever writes here attests to it…) are rice cakes. Although they are not made from rice. A nonsense that is the perfect thermometer to measure the quality of a pastry.
The current role of religions. The war in Ukraine has only deepened what is now known as the “new world disorder.” And, surprise, religions once again demonstrate here and beyond their great capacity for influence.
