Charges brought against Glauchauer OB

DThe public prosecutor’s office in Zwickau has brought charges against the Mayor of Glauchau, Marcus Steinhart (CDU). The reason is an attack by Steinhart on one of his son’s classmates at the end of August. He was accused of bodily harm in combination with insult and threat, informed senior public prosecutor Ines Leonhardt on request. The case is now with the youth judge of the Hohenstein-Ernstthal district court.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, Steinhart is said to have injured and insulted the boy on August 30 in the European High School in Waldenburg. Some time later he is said to have threatened him. The Zwickau district office had initiated disciplinary proceedings against the local politician, which are currently on hold due to the legal process. Steinhart has been the head of Glauchau’s town hall since the summer.

The CDU man admitted the argument in a statement on Facebook. Accordingly, two classmates had added to his son for months, with “hardly imaginable insults and humiliation”. This put a huge mental strain on the boy.

When he confronted the main actor and confronted him with his behavior, the physical altercation ensued. Steinhart emphasized that he acted as a horrified father who wanted to protect his son and regretted the incident.
