A small plane crash left some 85,000 people without electricity in the US county of Montgomery this Sunday, after the device crashed into a Pepco company transmission tower and became embedded in it.

The local fire service told reporters that the two people on board were not injured.

The company said on Twitter that it works closely with the emergency services of that county, which is part of the Washington metropolitan area, to assess the damage.

The plane was private and hung at about 100 feet (30 meters) in height.

The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. local time and some affected customers posted online that Pepco warned them that they might not get power back until Monday afternoon. EFE
